Touted to have a higher concentration of clubs, bars, and cafe’s than any city in Europe, Krakow’s nightlife can present an interesting experience for just about every type of bar enthusiast. Use the following information, including what is going on around Krakow's two major areas, the Market Square and Kazimierz, as well as basic nightlife and tourist tips to help make sure your time in Krakow is a positive one.
The epicenter of Krakow nightlife and Krakow drinking culture is the Main Square or the Rynek Główny. Here you will find some place serving drinks behind just about every door or all over the place during the summer, with the beer gardens that pop everywhere with the first spring flowers. Expect to find a mix of people around the market square, with a high concentration of students during the school year and tourists during the summer. The majority of Krakow’s well known or top clubs are located on or just a few minutes from the Main Square. In order of popularity on where2B’s list of most popular clubs in Krakow, you have, Frantic, Cien Club, Coco, Prozak 2.0, and Shakers. Expect a similar vibe in most of these places with drink on the pricier side, a dress code, an entrance fee on weekends or at popular club nights, and commercial electronic dance music or R&B and hip-hop. In addition to these trendier spots are a few clubs that are more popular among the student crowd, including Afera, Carpe Diem II, and Goraczka. A class of bars that has exploded as of recent includes bars selling food and drinks at low low prices, usually 8 and 4 PLN or about 2 and 1 Euro respectively. Some of the more noteworthy venues in this class include Bania Luca, Ambasada Śledzia, and Pijalnia.
Heading out of the Main Market Square, there is basically only one direction to go in terms of nightlife, and that is south to the Kazimierz/Podgorze area. Kazimierz is less drunk dancefloor party orientated than the market square, with a more mature relaxed nightlife atmosphere. In place of clubs you will find a slew of cool bars and cafes. Although many will do on a given night, Alchemia and Le Scandale are a few of the top choices. Head a bit further southwest for a new Krakow favorite, Forum Pzestrzenie.
In Krakow it is illegal to drink in public, and as a tourist, pretending you didn’t know, your are only 50% likely to get away with a warning. There are no time serving or selling restrictions and many bars will stay open till you stop buying and even if they do close on your drunk ass, you won’t have a hard time finding a 24 hour store. Drugs are still very illegal in the whole of Poland so best to keep your nose clean, and better to not even bother asking anyone in Krakow. There are a few gay clubs like Cocon or gay friendly clubs like Prozak 2.0 or Kitch in Krakow. You can check our help section for information about how clubs handle entrance, selection criteria, and how you can reserve a table with us at many of Krakow’s top clubs. Many clubs are full on Saturdays, and there is often at least one party during the week. You can check the Krakow Clubs Event Listing to see how many people are going where, this is often a good indicator of which clubs will be the most full. You can view past Krakow Club Event Photos from some of Krakow’s top clubs.
